The Notator
DanceScript is the result of over two decades of professional work in dance and technology by the project’s notator, Tim Glenn. Glenn is a tenured, full professor and has been a member of the dance faculty at Florida State University (FSU) since 2001. His professional work in the dance field has included serving as Technology Director for the National Center for Choreography at FSU, Documentation Director for the FSU School of Dance, Primary Videographer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company’s Repertory Preservation Project, and member of the Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance Company. He is the author of DanceDocumentation.com, which is based on his early research in the video documentation of concert dance. Glenn studied dance notation at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and at The Ohio State University. He currently teaches Contemporary Dance Technique, Screendance Composition, Theory and Practice in Dance Technique, and a Movement Analysis course (including movement notation systems) which blends the analytical theories and philosophies of Irmgard Bartenieff, Margaret H’Doubler, Rudolf Laban, and Alwin Nikolais.
